SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Role and Responsibilities

Data Conversion Laboratory converts client documents to standard formats, such as XML, SGML, and HTML. The Senior Project Manager leads the conversion process for one or more concurrent projects, through the production and delivery phases. To do this, the Senior Project Manager:

  • Provides pre-sales support in analyzing data samples and identifying factors that affect conversion costs
  • Evaluates client requirements and performs detailed analysis of client data samples
  • Defines conversion process and maps customer data to stylesheets/DTDs
  • Develops functional specifications and initial prototypes for software engineering
  • Establishes production plan with timeframes and costs parameters and forecasts resource requirements
  • Leads multi-functional project team in implementing the data conversion production plan
  • Coordinates efforts among functional areas and serves as liaison with vendors
  • Communicates with client throughout project and coordinates communication with Sales & Marketing staff
  • Monitors progress and maintains responsibility for delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Trains junior staff and vendors on technical aspects of projects and helps develop training materials.

Reporting Relationships

The Senior Project Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with project team members and staff from other functional areas. The Senior Project manager maintains close communications with Sales & Marketing staff.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in data analysis/technical management in information technology or related field
  • Significant experience in project scheduling, expediting, monitoring, and revision
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading and working with project teams in an information technology company
  • In-depth experience working in data conversion with XML required. Knowledge of standard military and commercial DTDs and Schemas a plus.
  • Experience in working with owners and senior leadership of an emerging growth company
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data in a variety of formats, to establish prototypes, and to estimate timeframes and costs for undertaking data conversions
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in leading multi-functional teams in a technical production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to client requirements with timely, effective technical solutions
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented and dedicated to excellence
  • Experienced in working directly with customers and non-technical professionals
  • Superior oral and written communications, especially with respect to technical content
  • US Citizenship is required due to contractual requirements for some projects
